Trees are one of the few things in
this world which we can enjoy after their lifespan of shady leaves,
tasty fruits and nuts has ended. Because of the perceptive mind and
skilled hands of a talented craftsperson one can enjoy its rebirth
into an item of great beauty and functionality that has the potential
of living longer than the tree itself.
I devote
great effort to the development of unique, distinctive functional
products, formed from creative ideas, transferred to the multiple
dimensions of a model, and finally to the finished product.
Every board that goes into one of my pieces is hand chosen for its
exceptional grain and color. Only the best make it to my
wood cache.
With concerns for the environment my new focus is on using as much wood as possible from the urban forest versus contributing the to need to cut trees from forests. This urban forest consists of the trees that adorn parkways and front and back yards. I work with suppliers who harvest these trees when their lifespan is over and convert them to lumber. I also work directly with local property owners to gather wood for turnings after storm damage or when a tree needs to be removed.
I take pride in precision workmanship and a piece
doesn’t leave the shop until it is absolutely picture perfect.
